Cathy is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed LPC Supervisor. She is a highly experienced therapist who works with children, teens, and adults. Cathy’s warm and compassionate style creates a safe space for clients to tackle their most significant challenges. Cathy understands how anxiety, insecurity, and self-doubt make it difficult for clients to trust themselves and see their true capabilities. Cathy is gifted in helping clients identify their strengths and find the courage to face their challenges head-on.

Cathy has a true passion for working with children, tweens, and teenagers. Cathy brings a unique perspective when working with these clients as a therapist. Cathy worked in the school system for seventeen years as both a teacher and a school counselor. She is very in tune with the challenges of parenting in today’s world and has seen firsthand the many hurdles children and teens face. Cathy’s desire to dive deeper into supporting children and teenagers is what brought her into the private practice setting several years ago. When it comes to children with learning differences, ADHD, behavioral challenges, social skills, anxiety, depression, and mental health struggles, Cathy works hard to collaborate with teachers, school administrators, and pediatricians to ensure continuity of care. Cathy can guide parents in exploring ways to advocate for their children in a school setting and find ways to partner with teachers and staff to build a network of support for her clients. In addition, she works with parents to build skills to effectively communicate and connect with their children. Cathy uses a strengths-based approach with her clients. Cathy incorporates play, games, and art to make connections and process emotions when appropriate.

In addition, to children and teenagers, Cathy works a lot with young adults. Clients often come to her with relationship struggles, anxiety, feelings of stress, and being overwhelmed. Feeling lost about the next steps in life. Cathy works with these clients to enhance self-awareness, build communication skills, and set healthy boundaries in life. Cathy’s experience as a school counselor helps these clients build the skills and capabilities needed to successfully launch into the world. She understands that depression and anxiety often make clients doubt themselves and feel unprepared to face the challenges of adulting. Cathy helps these clients connect with their strengths, gifts, and resiliency so they can go out into the world feeling empowered. Her passion for working with this age group is grounded in years of experience watching how her clients learn to thrive by building self-awareness and learning skills that serve them well for the rest of their lives.

Cathy’s adult clients often come to her to combat anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and burnout. Cathy’s clients enhance their mental wellness through the therapy process by embracing self-care, learning to regulate emotions, and connecting with their gifts and passions. Cathy works with her clients to build healthy relationships and navigate the home and workplace challenges. She believes that embracing a positive mindset and setting healthy boundaries can profoundly impact mental health and relationships.

Cathy received a psychology degree from the University of Texas-Austin and her Master’s of Education in Counseling from Sam Houston State University. Cathy is a professional member of the Texas Counseling Association and a certified member of the National Board of Certified Counselors. Cathy is an avid learner and always finds ways to grow and evolve as a clinician in an ever-changing profession.
